Dr. Gretchen Jungermann, Your Endodontist
Dr. Jungermann attended the University of Florida, graduating with a BS in Business Administration and Pre-Medical studies in 1993. She received her Doctorate Degree in Dental Medicine from the University Of Florida College Of Dentistry in 1998 and completed a General Practice Residency at Shands Hospital at the University Of Florida in 1999. Dr. Jungermann operated a private practice in Cosmetic and General Dentistry in Melbourne, Florida for 4 years, before deciding to specialize in Endodontics. She then joined the United States Air Force in 2003, working as a General Dentist at Keesler Air Force Base for 3 years.
Dr. Jungermann completed her Post-Graduate Endodontic specialty residency in 2008, receiving a Master’s of Science in Oral Biology and a Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Maryland-Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. During her residency, she won the top prize in the nation for her research proposal which was fully funded by the American Association of Endodontists, won the Tony Ponti Memorial Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Clinical Performance in 2008, and was her program’s Chief Resident from 2007-2008.
She left the Air Force in May 2013 as a Lieutenant Colonel to pursue a career in private practice. During her time in the Air Force, Dr. Jungermann published her Master’s Research in the Journal of Endodontics (October, 2011), served on the Journal of Endodontics Scientific Advisory Board, and as the Chief of Endodontics at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan, and Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.
During her three years at Andrews AFB, she functioned primarily as the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency Endodontic Clinical/Didactic Instructor, worked in private practice on weekends, and volunteered as Dean’s Faculty at the University of Maryland-Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. During this time, Dr. Jungermann also won the distinguished Outstanding Educator of the Year award for the Air Force District of Washington for her work with the residency program. She moved to Naples in October of 2013 to join Dr. Lovetto’s practice as an Associate.
Dr. Jungermann is currently a member of the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the West Coast District Dental Association, and Collier County Dental Association. She has also completed Parts I and II of the American Board of Endodontics Certification process to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics.
In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family and friends, her Weimaraner, Murphy, and enjoying being back in the beautiful Florida weather!
